It was my pleasure to serve with Geo on the Committee of Nantwich Natural History Society for many years. George was always enthusiastic, kind, encouraging and great to work with. He was a key member of the team that organised and built our hide at Bar Mere and a long-term custodian of our nest box scheme at Deer Park Mere - where his superb woodworking skills were invaluable to us. It was Geo who designed the hide at Deer Park too and it was always a treat to find one of his superb sketches in the records book there. Under his influence, through his work on the Committee and his involvement in many of its organised activities, the Society was always being gently steered by a considerate and sensible guiding hand. He will be much missed by us all.
